Extract
Combine a few drops of vanilla, almond or any extract that you like the smell of, with some water and pour into a spray bottle. Spritz into the air to fill your home with your favourite fragrance.
Citrus
Simmer the zest of lemons, oranges or limes, along with a teaspoon of cinnamon. This creates a lovely Christmassy smell around your home.
Hoovering
Add the grated peel of a lime or a lemon to your hoover bag – this gives a subtle citrus scent which freshens the air in any room when you hoover the carpet.
Vinegar
Simmering white vinegar in a pan for up to an hour can dissipate strong, lingering smells such as fish or curry, as the water evaporates.
Baking soda
Sprinkling a small amount of baking soda underneath the liner of your rubbish bin can reduce bad garbage smells. Baking soda also has other great cleaning properties!
