Removing a candle wax stain from your carpet may seem like a daunting challenge, but it’s actually easier than it looks. Follow our simple guide to get your carpets looking spic and span again.

- Fill a plastic bag with ice, secure the top and lay the bag directly on to the offending area
- Leave for several minutes, long enough to allow the wax to freeze
- Remove the plastic bag and gently scrape at the frozen wax with a blunt-edged butter knife. This should remove most of the wax
- Lay a brown paper bag over the affected area and press down on the bag with a cool iron. The remaining wax will melt. If the wax is stubborn, turn the temperature of your iron up a tad, but use caution – especially if your carpet consists of man-made fibres like nylon, which also has a low melting point. The paper bag will absorb the wax and remove it from the carpet
- Repeat the ironing stage with clean parts of the paper bag until all of the wax has gone
- Scrub the area with some carpet cleaner and it should look as good as new!
