How To Change a Lightbulb

How many people does it take to change a lightbulb? Cue the lightbulb jokes…! However, with this quick and easy guide it only takes one adult to change a bulb whenever the need arises.

2 minute read

  1. Turn off the power

  2. Don’t change your lightbulb whilst it’s still hot

  3. Remove the bulb.  A bayonet mount with two prongs needs to be grasped, pushed upwards and turned anticlockwise until it is released from the socket.  A screw fitting bulb merely needs turning anticlockwise until it comes loose

  4. Insert a replacement bulb.  Turn the bulb clockwise until it locks in place or twist it gently until it won’t go any further

  5. Turn the power back on

  6. Put the old bulb in the new packaging and dispose of carefully
