Log Fire
Not everyone is lucky enough to have an old fashioned fireplace and chimney, but for those that do, keep your logs and tightly wrapped newspaper spills at hand. There’s nothing like a flickering flame and the scent of wood smoke to create a cosy ambience.
Throws and Blankets
Whether you like the look of a throw on the back of the sofa, or prefer blankets folded in a corner, both will add a cosy look to your place. They’re also super handy to snuggle under when it’s chilly!
Lighting
Don’t just settle for your standard big light! Add lamps and light candles to create a low-light atmosphere. Fairy lights are a great way to add a twinkly, warm look to your rooms.
Colour
If you have quite neutral coloured walls, then add items to your room that showcase dark reds and browns. These will give a contrast which creates a warm and homely rustic look.
Rugs
If you’ve got wooden flooring then adding a textured rug not only looks trendy but also supplies a warm sanctuary for bare feet to snuggle on.
Time for you
It’s so easy in the winter months to avoid the outdoors, sit on the sofa and enjoy a TV binge. Find time to read a favourite book, magazine or even scroll through your tablet. Create a cosy space with a good reading light, fill it with cushions and grab a hot drink for that final comforting touch.
Curtains
Keeping your drapes closed will help keep in the warmth, but as well as insulation, drawing the curtains against the cold, wet night is a great way to feel enclosed and cosy.
