Aloe vera

This plant is very useful. Firstly, the thick and spiky leaves add an exotic vibe.

Secondly, they do not require a lot of water. You only have to water the plant once the soil has completely dried. This means the plant can survive for a couple of weeks without any water at all.

Thirdly, you will have a supply of all-natural aloe gel, which has multiple benefits. By cutting up the leaves you can harvest the gel. It is perfect to heal burns and cuts; it makes nourishing face masks as well and can be used to achieve healthy hair. It’s hard to say no to such a remarkable package.

Jade plant

It is commonly known that succulents are easy to keep. Jade plant is a succulent too. You can add multiple types of succulents with this one to add a beautiful theme to your home. The pretty little leaves with unique branches make it a good addition. A jade plant requires very little water too; you only have to water it once every few weeks.

This plant has a very long life. Due to its slow growth rate it can grow for at least 15 years, so you won’t have to worry about it suddenly sprouting uncontrollably. The only care you must take is to keep this plant in natural sunlight. Jade plants likes to grow in brightly lit places and a windowsill looks infinitely better with one of these sitting upon it.

Snake plant

Snake plant, or mother-in-law’s tongue, is another succulent. It has thick, dark leaves and grows best when left to its own devices. This plant does not require water for as long as two weeks and tends to prefer a light watering over long periods of time. In fact, the less water you give to snake plants, the better they grow as they hold a lot of water in their leaves. Overwatering leads to rot and will kill the plant.

It can grow in any sort of lighting conditions too and looks great as it keeps growing. The plant does prefer dry air, however, and sometimes you may see white flowers blooming in the plant. You should enjoy these flowers while you can as snake plants don’t flower very often.

Lamb’s ear

If you search for lamb’s ear, you’ll discover that everyone says the same thing: the leaves of this plant are so soft and irresistible to touch! This is a very unique plant, with lamb-ear-shaped leaves, as the name suggests. These leaves are light coloured with a hairy texture, which prevents the evaporation of water.

As an indoor plant, they’ll require plenty of sunlight and the occasional shade on hot summer afternoons. A hot lamb’s ear dries up and becomes hard and shrivelled and an overwatered one rots and dies. It is best, therefore, to water infrequently, ensuring the soil is dry between watering. Because these plants regulate their water evaporation, it makes them the perfect houseplant that will do its own thing and look good too.
