Tidy
A tidy up of the garden doesn’t need to take too long. Take a pair of shears and cut back any stalks that look a bit sad and lifeless right to the ground. Cutting these back will allow any new growth to thrive.
Pull up any weeds while the soil is still a little damp; this will make the task a lot easier!
Some people protect their garden with a mulch of leaves over the winter months, then carefully rake them away in spring. These are great to throw over the compost heap.
Soil
Dig over your soil using a garden fork to aerate and loosen it all up, ready for planting. Now this is when your compost comes in handy! Mix in your compost, or manure and it’ll provide you with a rich, healthy soil that will help your plants thrive.
Get growing
You can get the whole family involved in this part! Choose a whole range of seeds for flowers, fruit and vegetables and plant them as per the packet instructions. Your garden will be full of colour come summer.
Love your Lawn
Don’t make the mistake that many do by cutting loads off the length of your grass. You should set the mower so that it doesn’t take off more than one third off the grass at a time. Leave a nice finish by looking after your edges. A neat, straight edge will prevent grass spreading into your lovely, new flower beds.
