Painted pebbles
Spruce up your rockery with brightly coloured pebbles and stones, painted in a colour of your choice and inscribed with the names of each flower.
Wooden markers
Forget plastic and go with all-natural materials. Choose several twigs of the same length, peel away the bark on one side and write the name of your plants using a permanent marker for a rustic look.
Mini chalkboards
Ideal if you change your plants regularly, make reusable mini chalkboards to stick in your borders by spraying old gift cards with chalkboard spray.
Cork it up
Put those old wine bottle corks to good use by inscribing them with the names of your plants. The ultimate in recycling, these unusual garden tags can be stuck onto wire or even old forks to demarcate your flowerbeds.
Create a stir
Wooden spoons are inexpensive and look beautiful when painted in vibrant shades. Paint the names of your plants onto the bowl of each utensil and stick it in the soil with its long handle.
Glass jar covers
How many times have you stuck the label that comes with your newly purchased plant proudly into the ground only to find that weather and rain destroy it in no time? Now you can protect your labels by covering them with recycled glass bottles and jars. Paint a border around the top and bottom of each covering for added appeal.
