Planting

It’s best to plant asters early on in the year/mid-spring and to choose a site which has access to full or partial sun. These flowers prefer cooler climates so it’s important to ensure the soil is moist and well-drained. You should space your asters 1-3 feet apart to give them space to grow and water them regularly.

Care

Asters are fairly easy to look after, so if you’re a beginner and looking for flower ideas, asters are a great place to start, plus the results will be very rewarding! For best results, you should maintain your asters regularly by watering them often, be sure to keep the soil moist but do not over-water as asters are very moisture sensitive.

During the winter after the foliage has died, the asters need to be cut back and during spring, add a thin layer of compost around the plants every year. In order to maintain the flower quality, you should also divide them every few years during springtime.

Special Features

Not only are asters bright and beautiful and will liven up your garden, they are also known to attract bees and butterflies – perfect for nature-lovers with its beautiful bloom and ability to attract wildlife.

Asters come in a variety of colours and ranges from 8 inches to 8 feet tall depending on the type as there are over 200 species available.
