Although the British summer cannot guarantee a high number of pool-worthy days, on those precious days of deep blue skies and cotton candy clouds, what could be more refreshing than hopping in your very own pool?
Modest budget
For less than £150 you can get a 10-20 foot family-sized circular above ground pool. If you want one just for the kids (or have a space-challenged yard or garden) you can spend a tenth of this on an inflatable paddling pool and also dangle your feet in it from your deckchair! Inflatable pools of all sizes are a wise option as they easily tidy away for the other 9 months of the year.
Medium budget
If you have a large enough garden, you can buy a large permanent above ground pool with options ranging from several hundred to several thousand pounds. There are even pools designed for narrow gardens – like your own private swimming lane! Most people don't realise that you can also get a reasonable sized in ground pool installed for the same cost as a family holiday abroad.
Blow the budget
Live the dream! From ten grand and upwards there is a staggering array of choice of fully plumbed-in ground pools. Bearing in mind installation costs and additional items such as pool cleaners it can be a pricey outlay. However, running costs can be as little as £5 a day so it could prove cost-effective if you staycation a lot. Plus you have the advantage of always having the pool to yourself. You will find yourself even more popular with the neighbours.
