Roast Your Own Pumpkin Seeds

Millions of pumpkins are thrown away each year, but before you take out the trash after Halloween, have you considered some of the delicious delicacies you can make? Start by roasting your own pumpkin seeds, a delicious snack that can save you money in the supermarket!

  1. Remove the seeds from your pumpkin using a wide, flat spoon.
     
  2. Pull away strings and pulp off the seeds and rinse in a bowl of water.
     
  3. Spreads the seeds in a single layer over a large baking tray.
     
  4. Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the seeds.
     
  5. Sprinkle over your spices of choice i.e. sea salt, chilli and pepper.
     
  6. Mix it all together so that the seeds are well coated.
     
  7. Bake at 180°C/350°F/gas 4 for 7-10 minutes, until seeds are lightly golden brown.
     
  8. Leave to cool and store in an airtight container.
     
  9. Eat as a snack, scattered over soups or a salad.
