Chocolate Orange Torte

Everyone associates Terry’s Chocolate Oranges with Christmas and this recipe is rich and squidgy, ridiculously easy to make, freezes in advance and is perfect for a Christmas Day dessert.

To Serve 10, you will need:

  • 200g unsalted butter
  • 157g Dark Terry’s Chocolate Orange
  • 50g Dark Chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 200g golden caster sugar
  • 50g plain flour
  • 50g ground almonds
  • Salt
  • Chocolate sauce, berries and cream to serve

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Butter the base and sides of a 23cm loose-bottomed cake tin.
  2. Use an electric whisk to beat the eggs and sugar together for 5 minutes, until the mixture is very pale and quite thick.
  3. Over a low heat, gently melt the butter and chocolate together in a pan on the hob.
  4. Fold the chocolate and butter mix carefully into the sugar and eggs, being careful not to stir out all the air bubbles.
  5. Add the flour, almonds and a ¼ tsp salt into the mix, again folding everything in carefully.
  6. Pour into the cake tin and bake for 35 minutes until there is a light crust across the top of the torte.
  7. Let the torte cool for 15 minutes before slicing and serving with the chocolate sauce, cream and berries!
