Fresh Food to the Next Level

If you’re trying to improve and do more fresh home cooking, there are several companies that can remove the stress of ingredient shopping by doing all the hard work for you.

Whether you’re looking to reduce the amount of food waste you produce or cut down on how much you spend on food shopping, there are several companies out there dedicated to providing you with fresh and high-quality ingredients, and recipes to improve mealtimes.

HelloFresh

HelloFresh gives you the option of ordering a selection of great recipes every week so you can cook a hearty – and even healthy – meal at your leisure.  You can choose between 3 and 5 recipes a week for between 2 and 4 people, and they’ll do the rest, sending you everything you need.  Recipes change on a weekly basis and include firm favourites, calorie-smart options, rapid recipes, pescatarian and veggie options, so you can pick and choose exactly what you fancy.

You’re in complete control of what goes in your meal as well.  Don’t like spice?  Leave out the chilli.  Not a massive fan of garlic?  Don’t add it in.  What’s more, you’re sent exactly what you need, so choosing a food box will cut down on food waste, for perfectly sized portions no matter how many you’re cooking for.

Need an extra meal?  Something for lunch?  A spot of dessert afterwards?  You can add extras after choosing your meals for the week, for a small charge.  Sometimes, you’ll even be rewarded with freebies for ordering a set number of boxes in your first couple of months.

Their flexibility options give you great control over how frequently you wish to have a delivery and also whether in a particular time slot.  With delivery at £4.99, and 5 recipes between 4 people at £3.25 a serving, what’s not to love about the low costs?  And don’t worry – if you’re not going to be in, the box is designed to keep everything fresh and cool for when you get home.

Gousto

Gousto also offers food boxes in the same way as HelloFresh, but with an emphasis on a reduction in plastic packaging and an increase in sustainability at their very core.  You can choose between 2 and 4 recipes a week and either a small box (2 adults or 1 adult and 1-2 children) or a large box (4 adults or 2 adults and 2-3 children).  The boxes come to you however frequently you wish, in fully recyclable packaging that is designed to keep the contents cool for at least 2 days, so no need to rush home from the office to fill up your fridge.

You also have complete control over your recipes for the week, the option to order a one-off box instead of your usual weekly (or more or less frequent) delivery, pausing and skipping boxes, and the ability to modify your meals.  Fancy a meat-free burger instead of the traditional beef?  Swap the main ingredient when adding the recipe to your box.  Want the fish, chicken or veggie option for a tasty-sounding recipe?  Take your pick!  You’ll also be sent the exact amount of garlic to use, so no more leftover cloves like other suppliers.

Gousto frequently partners with other brands to give you freebies.  You may be in for a nice treat when you order your next box.  They also offer a ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme so you can receive discounts on subsequent boxes.  The biggest boxes come at £3.14 per portion and all boxes are all delivered for free.

allplants

In a world that’s considering the alternatives to eating meat, allplants offers plant-based dishes for a viable option that’s healthy for both you and the planet. Not only do they utilise recyclable, compostable and reusable packaging, but all meals are delivered frozen to lock in nutrition and flavour. You don’t have to be a vegan to make the most of these boxes, either. In fact, they encourage meat eaters to take part. They taste test all the recipes personally, in order to ensure you’re getting the best possible experience.

Portions are available for £4.99 per serving, which is a great alternative to picking up pricey meat substitutes from the supermarket, and feature a whole meal.  Delivery is also free from Tuesday to Friday, or available at £2.50 for Saturdays, and the recyclable packaging keeps everything frozen until 10.00pm that day.

These 3 companies provide a service that’s largely the same, but minor variations can tailor the perfect package to suit your lifestyle. Why not give them a try and make the most of their initial discount packages?  All 3 are, in fact, Certified B Corporations, so you can make sustainable changes to your lifestyle that will help the planet.
