You will need

  • Small tree, bush or a collection of twigs
  • Vase
  • Stones, soil or sand
  • Easter egg ornaments and decorations

Method

  1. To start with, you will need a base for your Easter tree.  Some people decorate a tree in their garden, while others create their own indoors.  You can either buy a small tree for indoor use, or simply collect a few twigs or small branches from the woods or back garden.  It can be more rewarding to build your own tree from scratch – plus, it will entertain the kids a little longer.

  2. With natural branches, make sure they are strong enough to hold at least one ornament.  You might also consider painting the branches white for a striking contrast against the bright colours of the decorations.  Alternatively, the natural look of the branches brings a more rustic look to the home.

  3. Place the branches into a vase and fill it with sand, soil, or stones.  Make sure the twigs branch out in different directions but are also held in place.

  4. Start decorating the tree.  For simplicity, you can use hanging eggs, which are widely available in different sizes and colours.  You could also add other decorations, such as string and glitter.  Homemade decorations are also a good idea as these can be personalised.  However you choose to decorate your tree, make sure it is bright and colourful so it is sure to catch anyone’s eye.
