Eggs

Cooked however you like, starting your day off with two eggs is one of the best breakfasts.  Filled with protein and good fats, these beauties keep you full and fight off bad cholesterol.

Greens

You can almost guarantee that if it’s green, then it’s good for you.  Veggies like kale, broccoli and spinach are a great way to bulk out your meal, but not your calories.  They’re full of vitamins and protein and some also contain cancer fighting substances!

Salmon

Fats aren’t as bad for you as people might think, especially when you’re tucking into a fillet of salmon.  This particular fish is full of healthy fats, protein and keeps you feeling full.  Other oily fishes such as herring, trout and mackerel are also great.

Chicken

Eating chicken and other lean meats like beef is a great way to speed up your metabolism. High protein foods have been known to stop snacking late at night and can be teamed with normal or low carb diets.

Potatoes

“Boil ‘em, mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew” – as Sam said in Lord of the Rings. Potatoes are a great way to add variety to any meal.  Whether you choose the standard white potato or go for the sweet variety, both have good carbs, potassium and their starchiness makes them extremely filling.

Soups

Homemade soups are a traditional way of filling up and keeping the calories to a minimum. The fluid means they can feel more substantial than eating vegetables on their own.

Apple cider vinegar

Adding apple cider vinegar to cold sparking water can make a refreshing drink.  It’s been proven to reduce hunger pangs and is popular as a dressing or vinaigrette.

Chilli Pepper

Some like it hot! Chillies contain capsaicin, which helps reduce appetite and increases fat burning.  This element is said to burn calories for up to 30 minutes after eating.

Grapefruit

Some nutritionists tell you to eat fruit only in moderation, as the sugar levels they contain can be quite high. Grapefruit however is fully endorsed and eating half of one before a meal can reduce your appetite and ultimately help you consume less calories.
