Making Your New Build House a Home

There are few things more exciting than being handed the keys to your new build home, all clean and freshly decorated. It might be lacking a little bit of ‘you’ though, so we’ve come up with ways you can put a stamp on your new home, without effecting the drying out period.

Beautiful Lighting

Lighting can make a huge difference to the aesthetics of a room, especially if you go for a large fitting that is bold and beautiful.  Pendant lights like chandeliers can make a big statement, or hang fairy lights around mirrors or in vases to create a cosy feel.  If you want lighting that is completely unique for you, check out suppliers who create one-off pieces.

Mirrors

Mirrors come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and can really create a lovely look in any home.  While you can’t redecorate just yet, why not create a feature wall filled with mirrored photo frames to showcase your memories and to make sure you look fab in your next photos?  Glass wardrobe doors can also create a classy look in any home and everyone needs their own floor length mirror! Take inspiration from stately homes with a huge golden framed mirror, creating an 18th century feel.

Radiators

You might not think of swapping over your radiators, but updating a standard compact heater to a designer one can really make a room pop.  Towel rails are a great source of heat, look stylish in a bathroom and ensure you’re wrapped up warm after a shower.  Panel radiators also save space and look gorgeous on the walls, especially if you go for a vibrant colour – they’re not too hard to install either!

Furnishings

You may have gone for neutral colours on your furniture when you first moved in to make sure everything matched, but now you want a bit of colour.  You can buy some eccentrically designed foot rests or pouffe stools as a statement piece to really show your personality in your home.  Adding a rug onto laminate flooring can make any room stand out and hanging artwork can show your sophisticated side.
