Flooring
It’s rare to find fully carpeted floors in Scandinavian countries. Most homes adorn wooden flooring with a large area rug for that warm and homely touch.
Bright
The Scandi look requires a lot of light. Windows are usually large and uncovered, whilst walls are painted white to reflect as much light as possible around the room.
Colour
As well as painting your walls white, add in tones of light blue and greys as this is very popular and a great way to create the ambience of a Scandinavian home.
Wood
Natural wood is key for modern Scandinavian design. Follow their lead and incorporate wooden cladding to the walls and ceilings to add warmth and texture to your home.
Fireplace
It’s not uncommon to have an original fireplace in the living room of a Scandinavian home. They add a lot of character and interest to a room, whilst usually remaining simple in construction and design.
Minimalistic
Scale back on the accessories. You don’t want clutter for this kind of look. Put things away in boxes and embrace the simple look!
