Pumpkin King
Carving a pumpkin is messy fun and you can be as creative as your imagination (and skills) allow. Pumpkin-carving kits make the task much easier, allowing for more intricate designs so you can light up your neighbourhood with something truly eye-catching and different. Instead of the traditional ‘jack o lantern’ face, try carving a spooky graveyard scene or haunted house.
Keep the flesh you scoop out to make tasty pumpkin soup or delicious pie. You could even hand out slices to Trick or Treaters.
It’s A Wrap
Save up clear, colourful sweet wrappers for creating amazing stained-glass effects. Cut out creepy house designs using black card with holes for the windows then back them with clear red and orange wrappers. You can also cut out potion bottles and back them with green, blue and purple wrappers.
These look especially effective with light shining through so stick them to your window or place in front of lamps, but not naked flames.
Chain Them Up
Paper chains are fun and easy to make – all you need is a pack of paper, scissors and sticky tape. Deck your rooms in black, red and orange paper chains, string them from light fittings and coil around your bannisters.
You can even hang homemade bats and ghosts from the links for extra scares.
Tomb Humour
Make novelty tombstones out of card or foam and place around the house.
Decorate with paint, fake moss and spiders or write your own amusing epitaphs on them! They can even be used as place-cards for your Halloween party.
You’re sure to come up with your own inspired creations so get making and have a R.I.P-roaring Halloween!
